What is an heirloom tomato?
Like most heirlooms, these tomatoes are generally considered to be those whose
seeds are "passed down" from generation to generation. Some are without genetic
modification. Others have been altered either through the deliberate or natural
cross-pollination of existing heirloom varieties. Regardless, the hallmark
of all heirloom tomatoes is their distinctive shape and color and their justly
deserved reputation for wildly unique -- often unparalleled -- texture and
taste.
